When the command wants to seize an enemy position, chances are it will be fortified, which means obstacles. Someone has to breach that obstacle and push through, and to do that, the Infantry and Engineers use a process called SOSRA.

Suppress - prevent the enemy from effectively engaging the breaching force by using suppressive direct and indirect fires.

Obscure - use smoke to prevent the enemy from having a clear view.

Secure - establish local security over the breach point.

Reduce - breach the obstacle, either manually or with explosives.

Assault - exploit the breach by closing with and destroying the enemy on the other side.
